Treatments for Mold as a Disease

Getting sick and falling prey to any number of microorganisms is, sadly, a part of living on this planet, just something that our immune systems were built to get around eventually.  As natural as feeling under the weather is, sadly, getting misdiagnosed is pretty common as well.  We can get headaches, breathing problems, skin irritations and a whole horde of common symptoms that can point to a number of illnesses.  If misdiagnosed, the symptoms stay and sometimes get worse, and even more can crop up.  This is all too familiar when dealing with mold infection and disease.  This is why it is imperative that we find the right cause of what ails us, and treat it right.

Going to any physician is not enough if mold infection is suspected.  If you’ve been temporarily exposed to the presence of mold, that’s enough to cause a few problems.  It’s even worse with prolonged exposure.  Symptoms like nose bleeds, vomiting, fatigue, unexplainable weight loss and even sexual dysfunction can occur among others. It’s a good thing that technology has caught up with the problem at hand.  A good diagnosis will be conducted after an initial check up by a competent doctor.  Diagnosis techniques will include skin testing and blood work, they will be used to test for hypersensitivity caused by mold.  Other kinds of blood tests may also be done to check for fungal organisms in the blood stream.  Cultures of the infected areas and antibody testing can also determine the severity of infection.  If a case is particularly toxic, a urine test can determine if the mycotoxin is present.  Then another blood test can be done to find out how one’s body is metabolizing said toxin.

The following treatments will be decided by the accuracy of lab reports and cultures.  A treatment plan may involve allergy immunotherapy and nutrient immune enhancement for individuals suffering from hypersensitivity.  For moderate cases, antifungal medications (either oral or intravenous) and a diet designed to fight fungal diseases will be administered.  This will include natural substances and nutrients taken specifically for dealing with mold and its ilk.  Serious toxic cases are also given nutrients to help with the toxins.  As these toxins may be reabsorbed by the body on their way out, bile binders are also given to prevent this.  Finally, relatively technology like the hyperbaric oxygen chambers will be used for therapy.  These treatments will help the toxins along on their way out of your system.

It is highly important that these steps be carried out. Simple treatment based on symptoms is not enough.  Again, mold disease can be mistaken for a variety of diseases which include asthma, fibromyalgia, lupus, arthritis, migraines, chronic bronchitis and more.  Medication for these diseases will obviously not work if mold is the cause of your problem. If left unchecked, worse symptoms like blindness, bleeding lungs, brain damage and cancer can occur.  It won’t be long before things take a lethal turn.  Anybody can be infected by mold, which is why it is a serious problem.  Treat it as such.
